The Caterpillar 432D Backhoe Loader was introduced in 2001 and was manufactured only in England. This machine was equipped with a Caterpillar 3054T, four cylinder diesel engine producing 93 flywheel horsepower (FWHP).

The Caterpillar 432D has pilot stabilizer, loader, and backhoe controls, a high-rotation backhoe linkage and a hydraulic pump. It is a standard frame width unit. The Caterpillar 432D was given a BLD serial number prefix.

Production of Caterpillar 432D ended in 2003. In 2004, Caterpillar introduced 432D Series II, which has a Cat-designed front axle. It is available with a standard or narrow frame. The Caterpillar 432D II standard frame units have a WEP prefix; the narrow frame units have a TDR prefix. Production of Caterpillar 432D Series II ended in 2005. It was replaced by the Caterpillar 432E.
