The Caterpillar 826C Landfill Compactor in 1:50th scale is a custom made model.

I was notified by a fellow collector (thanks Jorn de W.!) that the model was offered for sale on Marktplaats and saw immediately that it was a custom model that long time ago in a limited series was created by Ben Gelijk from The Netherlands. Because I am for many years in the possession of his “business card” in the form of a picture of the model of Caterpillar 826C. The model can also be admired in the article about the unique collection of this Caterpillar collector and custom builder that in 2002 Nr. 5 was included in the Dutch "Auto in Miniatuur" by the NAMAC.

For this custom project Ben Gelijk used the Caterpillar 966D Wheel Loader made by NZG.

I'm very lucky that I can add another small (I mean the scale!) masterpiece to my Caterpillar collection.

Caterpillar 826C Landfill Compactor

The Caterpillar 826C compactor was introduced in 1978 as the replacement for the Caterpillar 826B. It was manufactured in the USA only. The 826C has a 3406 direct injection turbocharged, six-cylinder engine producing 315 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with four-wheel oil disc brakes, a hinged crankcase guard, rollover protection system, and a sound suppressed cab. The 826C was given an 87X serial number prefix. Production of the 826C ended in 1995; it was replaced by the Caterpillar 826G.
