Caterpillar introduced the first Caterpillar D3 and D3 LGP in 1972, It was manufactured in Japan only and powered by a Caterpillar 3204 Engine producing 62hp. It started a serie which lead from D3B, D3B LGP, D3C, D3C (LGP) series II, D3C (LGP) series III, D3C XL series II, D3G XL (LGP) Tier2, D3K XL, D3K LGP,  D3K2 XL (LGP) to todays latest Caterpillar D3 Next Gen in 2020.

The D3 Next Gen (LGP) belongs to the Small Dozers programm and has a Caterpillar C3.6 ACERT™ Engine producing 104hp, weights 21369 lb and has Blade width of 126.7 in. and a maximum Travel speed - forward of 5.6mph.

Finally, after years waiting Diecast Masters under license from Caterpillar has released in 2022 the Caterpillar D3 Dozer. Ad Gevers custom built a "one of a kind" Caterpillar D3C Crawler Tractor SA in 1:50th scale.
