The Caterpillar D7E Dozer in 1:50th scale was released by Norscot in 2009 with #55224.
This scale model of the Caterpillar D7E Dozer is a particularly beautiful replica of one of the latest innovations from the Caterpillar Medium Dozer program.
Most notable is the single lift cylinder of the dozer blade. This is placed in the middle of the machine and in line with the GPS installation and the exhaust so that the operator always has an optimal working view to the front.
Caterpillar introduced the earth moving world to the future in 2008 with the announcement of their revolutionary D7E electric drive Dozer. This all new machine is the descendant of a long line of mid-size dozers that have carried the D7 model designator since being added to the Caterpillar line in 1938.
Separating the D7E Dozer from its competition and predecessors is its hybrid-electric drive train which reduces fuel consumption by 10 to 30 percent while improving the speed and power to ground efficiency rating by 10 percent. When combined, these increases result in an astounding 25% improvement in the material moved per gallon of fuel burned.
In addition to this unheard of increase in efficiency the reliability and uptime for the machine have been significantly improved when compared to conventional drive systems. In addition to a sixty percent reduction in the number of moving parts in the electric drive power train the new design utilizes components that offer up to 50% longer life. Even change intervals on hydraulic oil and filters has been increased by a factor of two and the power train oil and filters by an astounding factor of four.
While this Caterpillar D7E Medium Dozer deserves praise for its environmental benefits it also deserves recognition for the way it will lower operating costs and improve productivity in the construction community.
