The Caterpillar 329D LN Excavator in 1:50th scale was custom built in 2017.

As a collector of Caterpillar scale models you are always looking for missing scale models of Caterpillar machines. Preferably of a machine series or variant that is still missing from the collection.

In the past you had to hope for a tip from your network or be lucky to find special models or conversion kits at a swapmeeting, but nowadays the internet and certainly social media have become a huge new source of information. In 2017 I discovered via Facebook that fellow collector Jorn de W. was busy with a new custom project: The Caterpillar 325D and 329D Excavators.

Because I do not have the same self-build qualities as the aforementioned Jorn, I opted for the option of having the Caterpillar 329D Excavator built in Germany.

Composed of a resin kit from REFO-TECH Modellbau from Germany and using a diecast donor Hitachi Zaxis 350LC Excavator, a unique Caterpillar 329D Excavator has been created. I had to be patient for a while, but the end result is more than worth the wait!
