The Caterpillar 16 motor grader was introduced in 1963. It was manufactured in the USA only. The 16 has a Caterpillar D343 turbocharged, six-cylinder engine producing 225 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It came standard with a 14-foot moldboard, hydraulic actuated mechanical controls, planetary blade lift and a power shift transmission.
Subsequently Caterpillar developed since then the 16G, 16H, 16M, 16M2 and since 2015, the 16M3 is the latest member in the 16 series.
At present, the Caterpillar 16M3 Motor Grader is the flagship of the 16 family. Powered by a Caterpillar C13 ACERT Engine good for 291 hp, an operating weight of 67600.0 lb and a with a 16-foot moldboard a serious piece of machinery in the class of Medium Motor Graders made by Caterpillar.
Of the 16 Series Motor Grader NZG has released the 16G in 1:50th scale. In 2015 CCM released the 16M in 1:48th scale.
