The Caterpillar PL61 Pipelayer was introduced in 2008 and positions a new, technically refined model at the small end of the Caterpillar pipelayer range. The machine is manufactured in the USA only. Powered by a Caterpillar C6.6 ACERT™ engine. Good for 123.4 hp. The PL61 has a rated lift capacity of 40,000 lb.

Of the PL61 series Pipelayers, Rod Cross Toys has released a custom 1:50th scale model of the Caterpillar PL61.
