The first Caterpillar 972 Wheel Loader was introduced in 1998 and was manufactured in America, Japan and Belgium. Derived from the existing Caterpillar 966 Wheel Loader, this heavier machine was included in the delivery program as a “G” model and equipped with a Caterpillar 3306 turbo engine, good for 265 hp.
Subsequently, Caterpillar has since developed 972G Series II, 972H, 972K, 972M and since 2021 the 972 and 972 XE Next Generation (Next Gen) are the latest additions to the 972 series.
At present, the Caterpillar 972 (XE) “Next Gen” Wheel Loader is the flagship of the 972 family. Powered by a Caterpillar C9.3B ACERT Engine providing 339 hp, an operating weight of 54858.0 lb. and a bucket capacity of 3.75 yd3 – 18.250 yd3 a serious piece of machinery in the class of Medium Wheel Loader made by Caterpillar.
Scale models of the 972 series Wheel Loader have been released in recent years in scale 1:50th of the 972K (Tonkin Replicas). Subsequently followed by the 972M and the 972 XE Next Generation (Diecast Masters)
