CCM has announced to release a new scale model in their 1:48 diecast series:
The Caterpillar 245 was the largest Hydraulic excavator offered by Caterpillar during the 1970’s and 1980’s. With a working weight of more than 145,000 lbs., it capitalized on a Caterpillar 3406 Diesel and putting out 325 HP at 2100 rpm with turbocharging and after-cooling for power. The engine arrangement kept the power rating constant up to 7,500 feet and the hydrostatic hydraulic system maximized available horsepower. Easy access to the rearmost engine bay service doors was possible due to the low mounting position of the counterweights.
The Caterpillar 245 ME (Mass Excavator) version was provided with a stick which was 42% heavier than the standard one and a deeper box section to help handle loads. The ME also came with a larger bucket cylinder to provide higher breakout forces when working in dense materials.
Specification highlights:
The scale model of the Caterpillar 245 ME Hydraulic Excavator is made in a limited edition of only 395 pieces. This limited number came about because CCM has converted the already previously released Caterpillar 245 scale models which not been sold has been converted to the "ME" version. At this time the first models are already being delivered in dribs and drabs but the exact retail price does not known yet.
