Holt Manufacturing Company and C. L. Best Tractor Co. merged in 1925 in The Caterpillar Tractor Co., today's Caterpillar.

From 1800 to 1940, mainly (steam) tractors were built, and unfortunately most scale models of equipment from that period are produced in scale 1:24th and 1:16th.

I collect myself only 1:48 and 1:50 scale models and high on my wish list is still the Holt 75 Track-Type Tractor that was released by Classic Construction Models in Brass in scale 1:48th. Officially they produced only 75 pieces (and 300 pieces for Caterpillar dealer Holt), and if the model pops up for sale it is rarely below 3,000 Euro and not within my Budget.

I'm glad that I along with some fellow collectors a few years ago found an alternative in the white metal kit of the Holt 75 Track-Type Tractor  in scale 1:48th which was issued by the now sadly deceased Bill Roy McKenzie Iron & Steel. Recently I discovered that his former kit is sold today under the number #H501 by the American company Wiseman Model Services.

All that remains is put together ....
