The Caterpillar Challenger 65C CP4CH Pipelayer in 1:50th scale was released by CCM in 1999.
In 1999, Classic Construction Models released in a very limited edition a brass Pipelayer attachment made ??for the excisting scale model of the Caterpillar Challenger 65C made by JOAL.
It consists of a separate ballast block is mounted on the left side of the Caterpillar Challenger 65C and a Pipelayer boom section on the right side of the cab.
The Pipelayer boom attachment is provided with a number of pulley blocks and a neat hook. The whole attachment is very fragile and therefore on my scale model the hoisting ropes are glued.
This model is based on a machine from the program of the American firm Challenger Services specializing in pipeline and construction equipement using Caterpillar Track-Type Tractors and Challenger Tractors.
The Challenger Services CP4CH pipelayer attachment is fabricated specifically for the Caterpillar Challenger 65, 75, 85 and 95 Tractor.
The Caterpillar Challenger Series tractors have rubber track belts ranging in sizes from 25” to 30” wide. This provides more traction and stability and unlike steel tracks, rubber tracks can travel on paved roads.
Continuous power to both track belts is provided through differential steering. This means that the Challenger tractor with a CP4CH pipelayerattachment is extremely maneuverable even in a turn. Economically speaking, rubber belts outlast tires.
The Challenger Services CP4CH pipelayer attachment is equipped with a standard 15’ square tubular steel boom attachment. The Lift Capacity is 40,000 lbs. Modification will not inhibit any other applications of the tractor.
If you are in the possession of photos or additional background information like the original brochures or specsheets about the 1:1 Caterpillar Challenger 65C CP4CH Pipelayer I would be happy if you send your response to info@minimovers.nl
