The Caterpillar 836 Landfill Compactor was introduced in 1993. It was manufactured in the USA only. The 836 has a Caterpillar 3408E TA turbocharged engine producing 473 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It came standard with a 16.99 ft straight blade, four-wheel drive, articulated steering and a power shift transmission.
Subsequently Caterpillar developed since then the 836G, 836H and since 2013, the 836K is the latest member in the 836 series.
At present, the Caterpillar 836K is the flagship of the 836 family. Powered by a Caterpillar C18 ACERT Engine good for 496 Hp, an operating weight of 123,319 lb and with a 17-foot straight blade a serious piece of machinery made by Caterpillar.
Of the 836 Series Landfill Compactor Norscot has released both the 836G and 836H in 1:50th scale. Diecast Masters also released the 836H in the "Core Classics"Series. In 2024, the new Caterpillar 836 "next Gen" Landfill Compactor will be released in 1:50th scale by Diecast Masters in their "High Line" Series
