Caron Compactor is an American company which is founded in the late 1960's and since then Caron Compactor has provided landfill operators with quality traction wheels, tracks and pin-on teeth for more almost five decades.

Caron Compactor is recognized throughout the world as an industry leader due to the introduction of compaction wheels with high-alloy, replaceable “Pin-On” wheel caps. Caron Wheels with Pin-On Teeth are today marketed internationally on a full range of Caterpillar Landfill Compactors.

Other landfill products followed such as the Caron Double Semi-U and Semi-U Trashblades, the Caron Transfer Station Wheel, vital axle and final drive guarding, as well as specialized track shoes for both landfill and transfer station applications.

The Caterpillar 836G Landfill Compactor was introduced in 1996 as the replacement for the Caterpillar 836. It was manufactured in the USA only. The machine is equipped with a Caterpillar 3456 air-to-air after-cooled (ATAAC) Diesel engine and delivers 481 hp, has a 17.0 ft wide Straight Blade and weights 118,348 lbs.

The 836G was given an 7MZ and since 2001 an BRL serial number prefix. Production of the 836G ended in 2004. The Caterpillar 836G was replaced by the Caterpillar 836H.
