The Caterpillar 836G Landfill Compactor was introduced in 1996 as the replacement for the Caterpillar 836. It was manufactured in the USA only. The machine is equipped with a Caterpillar 3456 air-to-air after-cooled (ATAAC) Diesel engine and delivers 481 hp, has a 17.0 ft wide Straight Blade and weights 118,348 lbs.
The 836G was given an 7MZ and since 2001 an BRL serial number prefix. Production of the 836G ended in 2004. The Caterpillar 836G was replaced by the Caterpillar 836H.
