The Caterpillar 966A Wheel Loader was introduced in 1960 and only produced in the USA. The 966A has a D333 turbo, four-cylinder engine.
Subsequently, Caterpillar has since developed the 966B, 966C, 966D, 966E, 966F, 966F Series II, 966G, 966H, 966K, 966M, 966M XE, 966GC and since 2021 the 966 and 966 XE (Next Gen) are the latest additions to the 966 series.
At present, the Caterpillar 966 (Next Gen) Wheel Loader is the flagship of the 966 family. Powered by a Caterpillar C9.3B ACERT Engine providing 325 hp, an operating weight of 51124.0 lb. and a bucket capacity of 3.75 yd3 – 15.50 yd3 a serious piece of machinery in the class of Medium Wheel Loader made by Caterpillar.
In addition to the 966A (Norscot) scale models of the 966C and an "R" variant (Arpra), there are also a 966D, 966E, 966F and 966F series II (NZG) of the 966 series wheel loader. Next up are the 966K and 966K XE (Tonkin Replicas). Diecast Masters introduced the 966A and 966M Wheel Loader set in 2017 with the arrival of the "Evolution Series" and now the long-awaited 966GC and 966 (XE) Next Generation will follow in 2022.
