The Caterpillar 621 Wheel Tractor-Scraper was introduced in 1965. It was the “replacement” for the Caterpillar 619C Scraper. The 621 however was equipped with fully hydraulic controls. The 621 had a Caterpillar D336 diesel Engine producing 300 flywheel horsepower (FWHP) and a Heaped capacity of 20.0 yd3.
Subsequently Caterpillar developed since then the 621B, 621E, 621F, 621G, 621H and since 2014, the 621K is the latest member in the 621 series.
At present, the Caterpillar 621K is the flagship of the 621 family. Powered by a Caterpillar C13 Acert Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV Engine good for 407 hp and a Scraper Bowl Capacity (Heaped) of 24.0 yd3 its a serious piece of machinery in the class of the Open Bowl Scrapers made by Caterpillar.
Of the 621 Caterpillar Wheel Tractor-Scrapers are in die cast 1:50 scale model versions of the 621 (both in “Pacman” and the later “Pyramid” logo) made by NZG and Arpra Supermini released the 621R and 621F. In 2015 Tonkin Replicas released the 621K and continued by Diecast Masters in their High Line Series.
